Freon Leak Boise R22

R-22 Freon is the most commonly used Freon in ac units.  It is made up of methane, chlorine and fluorine and does not go bad, under normal use it last forever.  The government has put restrictions on R-22 due to global warming and the effect they THINK it has on our environment.  Due to these restrictions the cost of Freon has sky rocketed to over $100 a pound.  Because of this it is now more important than ever to repair any Freon leak Boise issues.  When you have a Freon leak Boise your Freon leaks out causing cooling issue in your home.  The best course of action is to find and repair the leak before adding Freon back into your system.

Finding a Freon leak Boise

This is best done by charging your system with over 400 pounds of nitrogen pressure. Adding a trace amount of R-22 gas.  We then search for leaks with both an electronic leak detector and soap bubbles.  In most cases the leak can be welded to repair it and then your system can be recharged.  In some cases however you may have an indoor coil or other part that cannot be repaired and that part will need to be replaced.  The average system takes about 8 pounds of Freon but can range anywhere from 3 pounds to over 16.  As you can see at $75 per pound this can get expensive.

Options:

Other options are you can take the chance it is a small Freon leak Boise and just add Freon to it and take your chances as to how long it will last.  There is also finally a good leak sealant we have had very good luck with the past 2 years.  This sealant finds the leak and clogs it up so no other repairs are needed.  These (2) options are much less expensive but not near as correct or reliable.  There are also some drop-in alternatives to using R-22 Freon however we do not recommend any of these as they are not yet proven to us as being a good fix.  I hope this has helped answer your questions about your Freon leak Boise, if there is anything else we can do for you please give us a call anytime at 208 898-9888
